The loud, rapid, low-tone crunch of my steps
Stops me in my tracks
I take a moment to take it in: the newly fallen snow heavy on the ground
On the branches
The air quiet
Pierced only by the chill and the bird
Calling—
I breathe it in
The snow slows me
30-second Snow Walk Meditation
I love these cold winter days that beg for fire.
I give over to it and light one—and a candle.

There on my coffee table, I see my oil and gua sha, a practice that brings heat to my body.
I reach for them, sit back under a quilt, and indulge in my daily winter care, that for me, always starts with my skin.
A few drops of oil soak immediately into my dry face, a few more, and I begin to sweep gently down my neck, six times each side.
I move through my 5-min routine, when I can, I go longer, it feels so good.
I want to introduce my daughter to this beautiful practice that is part skin care, part energy care, so I sign us up for a local workshop with our acupuncturist Nicole Miziolek of Qi Acupuncture in Hastings on Hudson, NY.
What we learn in an evening, Nicole generously shares as a Practice here in Revery and will share again in person for those local to NYC on February, 22.
