# Aliza Rivka, DJ & Founder, Mariposa Movement

I met Aliza Rivka (pronounced Al-eez-a) through Dr. Stephanie Marango, a bioenergetics doctor in my village of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, who prescribed dancing for me to lighten up my energy. She connected me with Aliza and [Mariposa Movement](https://www.mariposamovement.com/?ref=revery.space), I dropped in to her [Monday class](https://www.mariposamovement.com/drop-in-dances?ref=revery.space), and I was hooked. It was exactly the unstructured flow I was looking for, with an inspiring community of women. Aliza hosts from her home in Costa Rica. When she DJs her women's dance circles it feels like we're right there with her, about to plunge into the ocean for a morning swim 🌊💃.

Aliza's background is as a dance and movement therapist and a creative arts therapist. She describes herself as a "Professional DJ Priestess," and I can attest that she is one. Her core offering is called [The Sanctuary](https://www.mariposamovement.com/the-sanctuary?ref=revery.space) (which I joined, it's awesome!) with multiple dances per week and a community on Telegram. She hosts [dance retreats](https://www.revery.space/the-resonance-retreat-dance-in-costa-rica-jan-25-feb-1-2026/) and DJ immersions online and in Costa Rica, where she'll teach you how to be a DJ priestess too.
